Montana Mountain

Montana Mountain trail is very scenic in the mountain area between Florence Junction and Superior. The trail starts in Queen Valley and goes through Hewitt Canyon with classic Sonoran Desert landscape. We will stop at a quarry that has some beautiful green and red Arizona marble. Hopefully we can all take some home with us. The trail then climbs up Montana Mountain to an elevation of 5500 feet, in the pine trees. Then you head down the mountain through a series of switchbacks that offer beautiful views of Superior and Picketpost Mountain. The trail ends at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and the town of Superior. This trail is fairly easy with only a few ?spots? of difficulty. I will rate it a 2+ if that. This is a fun trail that will be enjoyed by all. There are many camping spots along this trail if some of you would like to spend the night. You can discuss this among yourselves on the message boards. This will take up most of the day but not near as long as the Coke Ovens or Crown King. Hope you can make it.
